Quick and easy protein balls

Quick and easy protein bliss balls

I love having a bliss ball on hand as a little afternoon treat, especially when I get to have it with something decadent like a turmeric latte….. or the occasional wholesome hot chocolate 😀 I like my bliss balls to be a mixture of textures and flavours personally, depends on the day, so I have a few different varieties on the go. Anything from fudgey to a little more firm to quite moist is fine by me. Yum! These definitely fall into the latter category because I have used macadamias and they give off quite a lot of oil when blending. I tend to use macadamias quite a bit for bliss balls here, as they are one of the least reactive nuts for people with food intolerance, particularly for those with histamine issues, but I have a few other bliss ball recipes in the pipeline using a variety of other nuts so if they’re not your favourite…. sit tight!

I have included a protein powder in this recipe to give you that extra little boost of an afternoon, as protein is excellent for stabilising blood sugar 😊 In addition, protein has several important functions within the body and can be considered a crucial nutrient, given it is used by every single cell for building, maintenance, and repair so sneaking some into a bliss ball is a great thing to do. It’s worth noting that protein powders all taste VERY different so the flavour of this recipe is likely to change depending on the one you have. I’ve used vanilla ezyprotein here, but whatever you have on hand is fine. Just taste the mixture before rolling it and adjust to suit the protein powder you have. You may find you want a touch more sweetener or even a little less. It’s up to your taste buds. Hope you enjoy these ❤️

Quick and easy protein bliss balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup activated macadamias (raw are also fine)
  • 20g goji berries
  • 20g protein powder
  • 15g cacao nibs
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 3 fresh dates, seed removed

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in your blender and blend until the mixture is sticky. You may need to scrape down the sides after a few seconds to make sure everything is incorporated. In the Thermomix – this was 10 seconds speed 6, and then another 10 seconds speed 6 after scraping down the sides of the bowl (it was needed for me!).
  2. Roll into balls and refrigerate for an hour. These remain quite soft given the oil of the macadamias so are best stored in the fridge too.

  1. Thank you Gabby, this is very helpful. Forget about dieting, if I don’t have proteins I will eat double carbs. That is the easiest way to keep your hunger at bay.
